Books for Summer

Breakingdawncover

Besides scrapbooking and stamping, I love to read. I am anxiously awaiting the release of this book, the last from the Twilight series. If you haven't read any of them, you gotta go do it!  Breaking Dawn comes out August 2 and I'm so excited.  It's going to be a looooong 10 days for me and since I will be at convention, when the book is released, you know what I'll be frantically doing. I'll be looking for the nearest Barnes and Noble or Booksamillion to get my copy!

Updates

Let's see, what have I been up to lately? Cleaning out my scrapbook room and getting ready for CTMH's annual convention. I'll be heading out to Orlando, FL in two weeks and I can't wait to meet up with my friends! Getting all my gifts in order and last minute items, so I've been busy. Can't wait to come back home and share with my scrappin' buddies everything that I learned in Orlando!

4"x6" Altered Clipboard

Clipboardwithtags

I love this cute clipboard! Paper used are from Close To My Heart's Boom-Di-Ada level 2 packet. This is my upcoming July Workshop class and I'm so excited to help my friends create this. I'm going to use mine as a fun To-Do list holder. The possibilities are endless.

Flippin' over my Flops

I had so much fun creating these for my 9 year old. This is a project we'll be creating for a class that I'm teaching for the 8-11 year old girls at church. I used Close To My Heart's bigger brads along with Just Blooms paper flowers. The flowers are incredibly durable and if you purchase just the plain white ones, you can dye them in the re-inkers to match any flip flop you'd like. There is so much you can do with them, so be creative!

Hope you are all having a wonderful 4th of July weekend and can enjoy time with your loved ones.

The Emerald Coast

I love living near the coast. Growing up in Southern California, I love the beach! I have to say that Florida has the cleanest beaches and with less crowds. The color in the ocean is unbelievable until you see it for yourself. We are now Native Floridians, having lived here for 10 years. Wow! Not bad for a young military family and now recently retired (4 months). Time flies when you are having fun.

One of my weakness is working at the beach. Yes, during my college years (Long Beach State University), I would take my study books and study at the beach (yeah right!). Now I take my kids (or like this week....one of my kids...the smaller one who wanted to go to camp, but got left behind) to the beach for some fun in the sun. He's a little scaredy cat and a bit of a momma's boy, so he clung to my left leg in the beginning, but then took right to the water.

I hope you are all enjoying your summer wherever you live. Give yourself a chance to relax and slumber :)

Love me some Michael Kors!

Well, with 3 out of 4 tater tots at summer camp this week, I am really missing my kids. My youngest is at home with me and he has really been giving me a hard time because he doesn't quite understand why he can't go to camp too. So I've been trying to keep him busy (water parks, library visit, arts and crafts....). He's doing better today, than a few days before when they all left.

With half the kids away, I was feeling that great urge to do some retail therapy again. What do you say? Well, I scored on a Michael Kors handbag and then I saw this bag online and I have to say I'm in love with his bags! Michaelkors I really love the buttery leather look and feel. It's a great bag! I bought something similar to this, but a smaller version. Move over Coach. But shhh....don't tell my husband! Actually, not the case because he likes to visit my blog when he's at work, so nothing is a secret (ha! ha!).

Besides retail therapy, I've been reading a lot of books. I can read between 4-6 books a day and no wonder I'm exhausted come night time LOL! Actually my mind is spinning with so many stories.

On my next reading list, I really want to read Dick Morris' Fleeced and Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson. I'm looking forward to Stephanie Meyer's Breaking Dawn, but you know what...I'm not too excited about it. I haven't pre-ordered and will probably wait a few weeks before getting the book. When Stephanie Meyer's books (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse) all came out, they were exciting reads, but now it seems to have been over exposed. I read on her website about a Breaking Dawn concert, which I'm sure is going to make lots more money. But overexposed and overkill on the money-making from the book is what rubs me the wrong way. On another book, I read Atonement and REALLY loved it. The author is a great storyteller. If you have any other books to recommend, please feel free to let me know! I'm constantly on the look out for more.
