Taking an intermission break

 

I'm taking a bit of an intermission break this week. 

Mostly to help focus on my oldest daughter

who is participating in her first pageant.

I have to say that this is NOT my thing. I'm okay

with her doing cheerleading, but boy is this stressful.

I've mostly kept out of it, and let her know that I'm

here if she needs me. I think more stress is added if 

you have a mother step in and try to run everything.

So, this afternoon I'm dropping off her gown

so she can have her final dress rehearsal.

The final pageant night is tomorrow on Friday.

Talent night was Tuesday and Paul missed that one 

because of work. He's excited to see what this 

is all about and as a father who mainly is interested

in Boy Scout nights, he's really supportive.

I should be back sooner than later!

It's time to share some LOVE...

 Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

 

I have to admit, this day usually comes and goes with me.

My husband is usually away on this day, and then 5 days

later we celebrate our wedding anniversary.

I know...I'm trying my best not to lump two special

occasions into one day, right?

 When you have a loved one who is away...

well, you really don't celebrate much.

But one of my favorite traditions to get over

this is to play love songs that remind me of him.

I know I'm probably making it worse, right?

Anyways, one of my all time favorite band was ABC. 

They were big in the 80's and I admit I had a HUGE

crush on the lead singer Martin Fry. That was

when I was about 10. Yikes! That's how old I was when

they first came out with their 1982 hit, "The Look of Love".

Anyone out there remember this song?

Studio re-do

I've been missing in action these past few days. Mostly because I'm working on my studio/office re-do. It's been on my mind for several months already, but I really needed to reorganize and create workstations. Most of what I did for the business was in two areas (sewing and creating artwork). I really need three areas: computer area, sewing area, and design area). 

If you follow me on Pinterest, you may have noticed that I've been pinning project tables. The ones inspired by Pottery Barn are really nice, but I have my own carpenter (hubby).

I love Brook's space! One of the features I really admire is the fabric organization on the side of the project table. If you sew, then you'll have fabric. The problem is where to put it all. I have bins filled with my best fabrics so that I don't get any dirt on them, and the fabrics I use most often will be readily available on the side of the table. Love that!

What's also great about Brook's project table is that the construction plans are available from Ana White! Ana is crazy awesome in the construction world-totally! She's amazing and I'm so thankful she has shared a lot of her plans. Check out her website here.

So much to re-work and organize in my office. I can't wait to share with you when it's completely finished. One thing for sure, it's a shared space with my husband. This is a major consideration in the aesthetics side. I'm sure he isn't too keen on fluffy tissue paper pom-poms that I plain to make for the space. Ha! Ha! We'll have to see.

It should be fun testing out new backgrounds and using photos in this week's journaling. Especially planning to use my left over photos. What a great idea!

 

An update on business news:

I added a new feature to my business...monthly newsletters.

It's about time and I have more ideas to share with you, especially in regards to using the products I create. 

Along side this business tool, I'm using Facebook and Twitter. I'm also using more and more of my Etsy shop for sales. I'll still have my store at Bigcartel. Still the same beautiful handmade products on both stores, except Etsy will feature some of my Vintage finds.
